Best TeamBuilding’s New Headquarters

We are growing fast. Not only is Best TeamBuilding and Corporate Events expanding nationwide with new offices and production facilities around the country, but our headquarters just got bigger too! Our new offices are in the beautiful town of Dunedin on the Gulf of Mexico, just 2 miles north of Clearwater Beach, Florida.

We christened our new meeting room with an East Coast Regional Directors’ brainstorming session about the integration of our iPads into 15 of our most popular team building programs.

Our East Coast Directors seated left to right: Roy Charette (Northeast Regional Partner), Celia Delgo (National Sales), Joe Groves (Director of Facilitation), Ray Assanti (Southeast Regional Partner), Scott Flynn (Founder and CEO), Thomas Boles (Accounting and Statistics), Diane Kendricks (Information Technology), Trish Flynn (Executive Assistant), Cathy Ruales (Business Manager), and Christine Roberson (National DMC Sales Manager). Missing from our East Coast directors meeting are Paul Petrus (National Sales – Orlando) and Bryan Burns (COO of SmartHunts – Boston).

We will be posting a video walk-through of our entire new facility in July when we have our semi-annual national conference for Best TeamBuilding and SmartHunts!

Over 65,000 People Have Now Been a Part of the Mural of the World

“Creative activity could be described as a type of learning process where teacher and pupil are located in the same individual.” -Arthur Koestler

Big news from Mural of the World, our incredible program that’s a combination of creativity, philanthropy, and (of course) solid team building! Mural of the World® is the brainchild of Best TeamBuilding’s founder, Scott Flynn, and Indianapolis-based artist Doug Arnholter. The most recent mural, painted by over 3,000 participants in Washington DC, is the 28th piece in the project, which now puts the total number of people over 65,000.

Doug, the artist who creates the paint-by-number canvases for each group to work on for the program, has also recently been invited by the Indianapolis Arts Center to join its faculty and teach workshops on contemporary frescoes.  We are proud both of Doug and of the widespread international impact his powerful charitable program is having as it continues to grow.

Best TeamBuilding and Corporate Events Sponsors Giveaway at BizBash IdeaFest

Earlier this month, event leaders BizBash held IdeaFest South Florida in Fort Lauderdale, and Best TeamBuilding was not only on hand with a snazzy booth full of our friendly staff, but we also sponsored a great giveaway with impressive prizes from dining certificates to gift cards to an iPad Mini! Attendees of the conference could get a key that might unlock our treasure chest full of rewards. We loved meeting so many experts and showing them why Best TeamBuilding rocks!  Plus, it’s always a pleasure to partner with big names in the corporate event industry, and both BizBash and ISES (the International Special Events Society, which also offered some items in the giveaway) certainly fit that descriptor.

How To Choose a Team Building Company

“No one can whistle a symphony. It takes an orchestra to play it.” -H.E. Luccock

When it comes to the important task of selecting the right team building company for your corporate event, it’s worth considering the history of the company, its track record, and its staff.  In our case, Best TeamBuilding® and Corporate Events was created by the merger of top companies in the fields of Professional Development Training, Team Building, Corporate Events, Corporate Entertainment, Technology, and App Development – dozens of experts nationwide who knew first-hand the state of the industry and wanted to form a company that would innovate and inspire. Our Managing Partners, Lead Facilitators, and Program Designers are extremely experienced and at the top of their respective games; importantly, they all share information, best practices and ideas, supporting each other in all aspects of preparing corporate events.  We are now the largest team building company in America, able to deliver our unique programs anywhere in the country thanks to our super team of professionals.

So before you choose the company you’ll trust to facilitate a program for your team, consider this: Best TeamBuilding isn’t just a name.  It’s what we deliver.  The best.

On Being Worthy of Attention

“If time spent with you or your message adds value every time, then you’ll have a competitive advantage over those that don’t.” –Tim Sanders

This enjoyable ONE+ article by Tim Sanders talks about how in this digital age of constant distractions (and therefore limitless possible demands on our time) it’s important to make sure to treat attention as a valuable commodity.  Of course, this not only means giving those who contact you your undivided focus, but also considering carefully before contacting a colleague or client.

We here at Best TeamBuilding® and Corporate Events have long since considered attention worthy of, well, attention.  Those who call our office get a thoughtful talk with a real person, whose expertise makes the program proposals then offered customized and useful.  We avoid haphazard newsletters, emails or phone calls; they’ll always have a purpose, like sharing a new and innovative program we’ve perfected or collaborating with a client on the details of an upcoming event.

In short, we agree with the article that the best way for us to be valued is to value everyone’s time and attention.  It has served us well.

First Time Without Training Wheels: A Bike Build Story

“Snowflakes are one of nature’s most fragile things, but just look at what they can do when they stick together.” -Vesta Kelly

One of our Managing Partners, Ray, offers this heartwarming story.  Recently, he delivered Bike Build charitable programs for two large corporate groups back-to-back in New Orleans and then in Philadelphia.  (Needless to say, as one of our most experienced and busiest Lead Facilitators, Ray has a huge number of frequent flier miles!)  At both these events, once the participants were surprised by the arrival of the kids who would be the bicycle recipients, at Ray’s instruction the team members adjusted the height of the seat and handle bars for each child.

Then the real magic began.  For most of the kids, this would be their first bike ever, or at least their first without training wheels, so they were excited beyond words but did not actually know how to ride.  The teams began to teach the children, patiently and carefully, and within a half hour many were zipping around the room with pure joy.

“It was amazing to see it,” Ray reports, recalling the moments when these deserving recipients, helmets firmly fastened, balanced on their own and rode free.  “I get a lot out of seeing it right in front of my eyes.”  We know that the teams who create the bikes during the program, as well as the kids who receive them, absolutely get a lot of out it too!

Why Charitable Programs Help Teams Connect

“Light is the task where many share the toil.” -Homer

We here at Best TeamBuilding® find that charitable programs are incredibly effective at helping teams forge connections. Feedback from our thousands of ecstatic clients over the years has shown this to be accurate; when companies engage in corporate social responsibility (CSR), team building works.

When teams are focused on a significant, challenging task at hand – not on themselves – there’s no time nor need for self-consciousness.  Instead, they genuinely work together to overcome each step. It’s the difference between the thoughts one might have while doing the clichéd “trust fall” exercise (worries about one’s own physical proximity and safety) and the thoughts one might have while building a bike for a local underprivileged child who wouldn’t otherwise get to ride (focus on helping the team make the bicycle correctly and on the kid who will be overjoyed).

Teams can paint a breathtaking mural to brighten up a nearby hospice (Art of Giving) or assemble care packages for soldiers oversees (Operation Military Care) or assemble teddy bears and rocking horses (We Care for Kids™) – and whatever the charitable program, they’ll find they have truly bonded, truly worked as a cohesive group, and truly learned to collaborate, without having to think about it.  It’s a win-win: companies unselfishly help their communities and simultaneously learn team building trust that carries over long-term.

Foodies Come Together for a Great Cause

“Snowflakes are one of nature’s most fragile things, but just look at what they can do when they stick together.” -Vesta Kelly

Our most recent Mural of the World® program took place in New Jersey, where one of the world’s largest companies – which includes several billion-dollar food-related brands – painted the clever mural pictured.  With hot dogs as the stripes on the American flag, a decorated biscuit as the British Union Jack, and various other countries’ flags represented by relevant foods, it’s a great reflection of this international group’s focus on food.

As with all Mural of the World programs, two copies of the mural were made, and one will be donated or auctioned as part of the company’s charitable giving while the other remains in the beautiful traveling Mural of the World collection, which contains art from organizations and communities all around the globe.

Bike Build Donation with iPads®: Video of the Week

We’ve updated the tried and true bicycle donation program with the latest in technology: Apple® iPads®! Now not only do groups build strong teams while building bikes and take part in the heartwarming presentation of the bikes to deserving children, but they also use our proprietary SmartHunt app to progress through the program. No paper garbage, no muss. It’s the latest innovation in one of the most popular charitable corporate events of all time and we’re proud to have innovated it!

We Put the Team in TeamBuilding

“A single arrow is easily broken, but not ten in a bundle.” -Japanese proverb

Having met and worked with so many DMCs, planners, and corporate managers, we know that those who make their living organizing events are already experts at the details of their job: working with clients, knowing the logistics of their destination, building upon their connections to various industries to arrange a conference or meeting perfectly. So they’re always delighted to find that we here at Best TeamBuilding add to the ease and quality of their work.

Why?  Because we’re experts at what we do, too. As the largest team building company in America, we have deep roots, experienced facilitators, and innovative delivery systems, all of which means that we augment what they are already doing.  Our team’s expertise supports their team’s expertise, which supports the client’s eventual improved teamwork thanks to our effective programs.

In short, we help those who help companies thrive.  We help planners plan.  And we put the team in team building!
