Operation Military Care is one of our most heartwarming corporate event programs. Why? Not only do participants form strong teams by collaborating on challenges that culminate in the creation of care packages for servicemen and women who typically would not otherwise receive them, but also they are surprised by a military representative who speaks about the importance of the day’s actions. We often hear that there wasn’t “a dry eye in the house” because everyone was so moved, which is important because of the impact it has on the groups to know that they can truly make a difference as a team. This program is a powerful reminder that philanthropy is worthwhile.
“Quarrymen, stonemasons, woodcutters, carpenters, blacksmiths, tile makers, basket makers, rope makers, carters and their horses – are all working together to complete the castle.” – Guedelon.fr
Deep in the French countryside, there is a group of tradesmen and women who have come together to do the unthinkable: they are using 13th century methods to build a castle. In Yonne, Burgundy, approximately fifty people have taken on the project, which started in 1997 and is expected to last at least another ten years from the present. Their director general, Maryline Martin, specifically states that it is the teamwork of the staff members that truly makes the project possible, saying “Guédelon is built on the strength of the castle’s foundations of course, but also on the strength of that team.”
Though the corporate event programs we offer only last a day or a portion thereof, not twenty-five years, they’re specially formulated to help the participants build something nearly as lasting as a castle: genuine connection, streamlined communication, and a deeper understanding of how to make their team function successfully when they’re back in a work environment.
When groups find out they’ll be making gumbo, crafting a team ‘restaurant’ name, and performing a commercial song for their chosen moniker, there’s always a buzz of excitement in the room. When delicious smells start to fill the room and teams start tasting their creations, the excitement builds. When the singing and dancing of the performances begins, the excitement includes wholehearted cheering. And when the ultimate winner of the Gumbo Cook-Off is crowned, well, you’ve never seen such excitement at a corporate event. Now that’s tasty fun!

“It looks like a solitary sport but it takes a team.” –Diana Nyad
When endurance swimming Diana Nyad covered the 110-mile distance from Cuba to Key West, Florida this year, she did so on her own, in a way. The rules stated that she could never touch the boat or any outside person or object during the entirety of the 53 hours she spent in the water. That said, however, Nyad acknowledged that without her team, her accomplishment wouldn’t have been possible at all.
The crew accompanying Nyad included medical personnel, jellyfish experts, boat drivers, and independent observers to corroborate her story of achievement. There are reports that not only did she stop halfway through to sing happy birthday to one member of her team, but also that as she approached the end of her swim she told everyone in attendance on the boats, from dear friends to crew she’d just met the day before, that they were “a special group”.
We here at Best Corporate Events are always heartened by tales of teams working together to achieve the extraordinary, like this one. Forging successful teams is our passion!
Never underestimate the power of creativity! Not only do teams get to cook delectable meals during this corporate event, but they also design a poster and commercial advertising for their newly-formed ‘restaurant’ to the rest of the group. In this video, which includes several large group Great Dining® events, you can see lots of clever names, from Heart of Sole (for a team that made a fish dish) to the Candy Café (dessert crafters) to Irene’s and Gio’s (likely the head chef of those teams). It’s one of the many ways we’ve incorporated different forms of creativity into our programs, to let the broadest possible spectrum of participants shine!
“We all inhabit this small planet. We all breathe the same air. We all cherish our children’s future.” –John F. Kennedy
The web page for every program we offer here at Best Corporate Events includes a section called “Eco Elements” which details the ways in which it’s green. For example, all materials used might be reused, recycled, or donated. Or we may be able to theme the entire program around an eco theme. The biggest way in which we’ve upgraded our offerings, though, is by including iPads! Since the trivia questions, assembly instructions, and other information are now all on the iPads instead of printed; popular programs like Bike Build Donation and SmartHunts are entirely paperless.
When you’re looking for a team building program that fits your company’s needs, don’t neglect to consider whether your selection includes consideration for the planet. Ours do, and we’re proud to explain how on every program page!

“No matter what, expect the unexpected. And whenever possible BE the unexpected.” –Lynda Barry
One of the most exciting aspects of our SmartHunt programs is the interaction with celebrity look-a-likes. In fact, injecting a dose of unexpected excitement is one of our trademarks, whether it’s real medals at the end of a competitive event, twists that improve collaboration during a professional development program, or amazing creativity during a team building challenge. Our corporate programs are incredibly well designed and delivered by seasoned facilitators – so clients get the results they’re seeking, every time – including laughter, surprise, and fun!
At a recent trade show, we extended this philosophy to our booth. There in front of our giant 7-foot iPad (featuring dozens of our programs) was Cap’n Jack Sparrow, one of the many actors on our roster of personable, talented performers available nationwide to enhance our programs. So take a look at what Best Corporate Events has to offer: you could find yourself dancing with Pee Wee Herman, dining with the Godfather, or boxing with Rocky when you least expect it. You never know!
